Toby Tellier
With her rock-solid bass playing and her bluegrass vocals, Toby brings a wealth of talent to Woodbend.
Toby was born in Elliot Lake, Ontario to a French Canadian family. She was only seven when she saw her first bluegrass band and fell in love with it and especially the stand-up bass. It was an experience she’s never forgotten. But it wasn’t until settling in Alberta years later that she had the opportunity to play one. Since then, she dedicated many hours (and countless blisters) to the instrument.
The popular bluegrass band ‘Wildwood Flower’ was the proving ground for Toby and she shared many performances with them in and around the Edmonton area. Toby has been with Woodbend since its inception and we give her credit for coming up with the band name.
